What We Believe

Confession of Faith:

New Ground Church values being connected to the historically orthodox movement of the Christian faith. We believe in one God who exists as 3 persons in 1 essence (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). We believe the bible is God’s revelation to humanity to teach us about God, creation, and our purpose. In accordance with Scripture, we affirm that due to sin every person is born separated from God. Although we deserve judgment, because of God’s amazing love God the Son entered into creation as the man, Jesus Christ, and suffered in our place on the cross to reconcile us back to God the Father. Through trusting in Jesus’ atoning work on the cross we receive forgiveness of our sins and eternal life with God. We believe that as followers of Christ we are continuously being transformed by God the Spirit and called to a new way of living — revealing God’s love to the world.

Our confession of faith is: The Apostle’s Creed.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. AMEN.

*The word “catholic” in the Apostles’ Creed refers not to the Roman Catholic Church, but to the universal church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
